Patterns of Home

The Design Process

Initial Meeting
We talk about your ideas, concepts, and limitations including budget, squarefootage design & code restraints. We look at pictures you've clipped from magazines, photos of homes you like, and elements of existing floor plans that fit your needs.
Phase 1: Preliminary Drawings
We build a 3D computer model of the home/addition, incorporating the elements of the design laid out in the initial meeting. We simulate trim, colors, cabinets, and even exterior landscaping. We will email you renderings of the exterior and key points of the interior along with floor plans and square footages that will help you make decisions on changes you want. The renderings give a realistic idea of what the house could look like.
Phase 2: Revisions
After you critique the preliminaries we continue the dialog and fine-tune the design with a number of revisions to make sure you get what you need in a home design.
Phase 3: Construction Documentation
Once we finalize the conceptual design, it's time to build the complete set of Construction Documents (Blueprints).
Phase 4: Structural Engineering
We work with a structural engineering firm to complete the lateral, gravity, and any foundation design requirements.
Completion:
We provide five (you may need more) sets of blueprints for you to receive quotes for construction. Our part of the process is done! If it is a good fit we can also provide you a quote for construction.
